Livia Radwanski

Livia Radwanski is a Brazilian freelance photographer and cinematographer based in México City. The exposure to several cultures at an early age—growing up in Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina—determined her profound interest in understanding and exploring themes that are culturally specific and how they can be transmitted and translated outside their own context. She received a BFA in Film/Animation/Video at Rhode Island School of Design in 2006. She worked at Pochron Studios, a fine art printing and retouching studio in New York City, before moving back to Latin America. Her photobook Unos Otros Méxicos I was finalist in the I International Iberoamerican Photobook Award coordinated by RM editorial in 2010 and she received honourable mention at the II Artist Book Fair coordinated by Centro de la Imagen during Fotoseptiembre 2011. Her multimedia documentary project Mérida90 was published as a book in 2012 by Tumbona Ediciones and exhibited in the collective show “Gentrification is not a lady’s name” at the Modern Art Museum in Mexico City in 2013 and in 2016 in the exhibit “Piso- Pilot: Barcelona- Mexico” at the Franz Mayer Museum. Her long-term work with the sound system community Sonideros has been exhibited in Mexico, Spain, and England and has been published in an e-book: Sonideros en las Aceras, Véngase la Gozadera. Her portraits of the Palo Alto Cooperative was exhibited in the Mexico Pavillion in the XV Architecture Biennale di Venezia: Reporting from the front.
Livia Radwanski est une photographe indépendante et cinéaste brésilienne établie à Mexico. Une exposition à plusieurs cultures dès son plus jeune âge, ayant grandi au Brésil, au Mexique et en Argentine, a façonné l’intérêt profond qu’elle éprouve pour la compréhension et l’exploration de thèmes culturellement spécifiques et pour la façon dont ils peuvent être transmis et traduits en dehors de leur propre contexte. Elle a obtenu un baccalauréat ès beaux-arts en Cinéma/Animation/Vidéo de la Rhode Island School of Design en 2006. Elle a travaillé au Pochron Studios, un studio d’impression et de retouche des beaux-arts à New York, avant de retourner en Amérique latine. Son livre de photographies Unos Otros Méxicos I a été finaliste à la 1re édition de la compétition Ibéro-américaine internationale RM Photobook Award en 2010 et a reçu une mention honorable lors de la 2e édition de la Artist Book Fair coordonnée par le Centro de la Imagen durant le festival Fotoseptiembre 2011. Son projet documentaire multimédia Mérida90 a été publié sous forme de livre en 2012 par Tumbona Ediciones et a été exposé durant le spectacle collectif « Gentrification is not a lady´s name » au Musée d’art moderne de Mexico en 2013 et durant l’exposition « Piso- Pilot: Barcelona- Mexico » au Musée Franz Mayer en 2016. Son travail de longue date avec la communauté du programme de musique Sonideros a été exposé au Mexique, en Espagne et en Angleterre et a été publié dans un livre électronique : Sonideros en las Aceras, Véngase la Gozadera. Ses portraits de la Palo Alto Cooperative ont été exposés au pavillon de Mexico lors de la 15e édition de l’événement d’architecture Biennale di Venezia: Reporting from the front.
Natalie Casemajor

Nathalie Casemajor est professeure au Urbanisation Culture Société Research Centre de la INRS (Institut national de la recherche scientifique, Montreal). Ses travaux portent sur les médias numériques, les pratiques culturelles et l’espace urbain. Ils ont été publiés dans les revues Media, Culture & Society, Culture et Musées, Communication & Langages et Fibreculture. Diplômée de l’UQAM et de l’Université Lille 3, elle a été chercheure postdoctorante à l’INRS (Centre Urbanisation, Culture et Société) ainsi qu’au département d’histoire de l’art et des études en communication à l’Université McGill. Elle a également travaillé comme coordinatrice dans divers collectifs citoyens et organisations culturelles.
Nathalie Casemajor is an Assistant Professor in the Urbanisation Culture Société Research Centre at INRS (Institut national de la recherche scientifique, Montreal). Her work focuses on culture, territories and communities as well as digital culture. She coedited the book Expériences critiques de la médiation culturelle (PUL, 2017), and she is a member of the Chaire Fernand Dumont sur la culture, the Groupe de recherche sur la médiation culturelle and the Laboratoire art et société terrains et théories (l/as/tt). She was previously an Assistant Professor at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, a Postdoctoral Fellow at McGill University (Department of Art History and Communications Studies) and a Visiting Scholar at the New York University (Department of Media, Culture and Communication).
Will Straw

Will Straw is James McGill Professor of Urban Media Studies in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at the McGill University in Montréal. He is the author of Cyanide and Sin: Visualizing Crime in Fifties America (PPP Editions, 2006) and more than 150 academic articles on popular music, cinema, newspapers, and urban culture. He is currently working on the culture of night.
Will Straw est James McGill Professor of Urban Media Studies au Département d’histoire de l’art et des études en communication de l’Université McGill à Montréal. Il est notamment l’auteur du livre Cyanide and Sin: Visualizing Crime in Fifties America (PPP Editions, 2006) et de plus de 150 articles sur les musiques populaires, le cinéma, la presse écrite et la culture urbaine. Il travaille actuellement sur la culture de la nuit.
